A Fantastic Resource for Beginners This was a great book on personal finance for beginners. If you’re not familiar with the foundations of personal finance and want to start accumulating wealth: this is a fantastic book to get started with. It covers all the basic things you need to know to be successful at managing your money. The main concept is this: you should save at least 1/8th of your total (pre-tax) income. If you have debt (other than a house), pay that off first. Then, in this order, stock your…

but I’m glad I didn’t I almost put this book down after reading the introduction (think cheesy internet marketers circa 1999), but I’m glad I didn’t. I skimmed the whole book in under an hour, and put my highlighter to good use. I dog-eared about 30 pages, which is a LOT for one book! I know, I know, all the book lovers are going to cringe but I’m a dog-earer and highlighter. 🙂 Anyway, the book is great. The concepts ARE very simple but obviously you aren’t using them or you wouldn’t be buying a book about being a…

This is a good book. It is more for beginners that are … This is a good book. It is more for beginners that are not familiar with automated investing/dollar cost averaging. It does provide a good plan to get people started. The pay yourself first principle is relatively basic but the automation piece detailed in this book is a good tool to help get people started on the right path. Low cost index funds are also a good way to diversify and passively invest. Overall this book is a good place for someone looking to start investing for their future.
